Rodarte showcased their 2013-2014 Fall Winter Womens Runway Collection during New York Fashion Week. Sisters, Kate and Laura Mulleavy’s inspiration came from the laid-back California coast beach lifestyle, 1970s hippiedom, 1980s rebel rock and 1990s grunge. It was all a colorful yet dark layering of garments. One example was an oversized coat over a bodysuit and paired off with a streetwear long shorts with leggings underneath. Trendy design highlights were embossed engraved ornamental patterns, embellished dots, embroidered rose petals, ruffled collars, psychedelic tie-dye graphics, two tone color blocking, geometric triangular shoulder bib, flowing robe like silhouettes, asymmetrical cuts and retro acid wash prints. Casual jeanswear pieces looked more like wide leg cropped pants with a twisted metal wire belt closure. Denim separates came in through the marbled batik patterns on the wide leg capris. From the presentation, we selected the top looks and our favorite pieces.
