Alexandre Herchcovitch showcased his 2014 Summer Southern Hemisphere Mens Runway Collection during Fashion Rio at Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. Herchcovitch has been one of the pioneers of fashion forward denim designs transcending traditional pieces, exploring couture culture yet entertaining the tastes of modernity. This upcoming season, the inspiration came from coal mine workers, field laborers and 1970s-80s The American West by Richard Avedon.
Denim fabrics and jeanswear pieces dominated the catwalk. Much like womenswear, there were different denim treatments and fabrics for mens such as acid wash bleached tie dye effects, Japanese raw selvedge dry denim imported by Vicuña, retro ultra faded light indigo and blackish dark indigo tones. Notable menswear style pieces were denim one piece shirt-overalls combo with double-triple denim effect, casual denim cargo pants, combishort-overall salopette romper in rustic chocolate-caramel leather, neon green pants with suspenders and the tie dye denim full ensemble. Large tote bags and clear aviator spectacles complemented the wardrobes.
